Hello friends!
Today we have a special treat. On this date was born one great man and another one passed away. And they had a very interesting rivalry. As you know, Alexander Graham Bell, who passed away on this date in 1922, is credited for the invention of the telephone. Elisha Gray, who was born on August 2, 1835, was another great inventor, who also invented a telephone, but lost out to Bell the battle for the historical title of inventor of the priceless devise. Well, history now equates the name Bell to the telephone, but it is interesting how at the time of the invention of the telephone things were not so clearly cut. Therefore, it is good, at least on this day, to remember both men.
And now, off to some famous quotations by Alexander Graham Bell, who was the more well-spoken of the two men. Here is my favorite, and below you can find the rest of the quotations as always:
"A man, as a general rule, owes very little to what he is born with - a man is what he makes of himself."
