Hi there with another edition of the Lunchtime Philosopher.
So what do you want? Money? Fame? Happiness? Success? The attention and recognition of a certain someone? Love?
There are many objects of the human desire, but there is one thing common for all of them. If you base your feeling good about yourself on the outcome, in most cases you will suffer a double loss. You will not get what you wanted and you will be miserable.
But how do we ensure that we get what want? While I believe that you can get anything that you aim for, there is one big obstacle to people achieving that. Of course, that is time. In most cases we want something so badly that we want it almost right away. And where does this anxiety come from? It comes from a lack of willingness to give up what we want. In other words, this is the same attachment to the outcome we have been talking about. Free yourself of this attachment, and keep going after your goal just for the sake of it. Even if you don't get it, you will not be left empty-handed. Most probably you will gain something even more valuable in the future. And best of all - that would be unexpected!
OK, my time is up for today, too. Before I go, however, I would like to remind you that I am not trying to teach you how to live your life here. I am using this blog as kind of a personal diary and most of the time I am actually talking to my inner self.
I hope that this inner journey has been at least a little bit helpful to you, too!
