Hello friends!
As you might recall, last month we celebrated the month of Attitude. I hope that you still remember the lessons from last month's postings. But at the end of this month you might have asked yourself the question:
What follows after developing a great Attitude?
The answer to this is in the Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale.
What is The Strangest Secret? This is an audio recording made by Earl Nightingale, the so-called Dean of Personal Development and founder of Nightingale - Conant, which started the spoken word industry. If I have to summarize the message of the Strangest Secret in three main points, it would go like this:
1. We become what we think about.
2. Goals are essential to one's success.
3. Every goal is meaningless unless we act upon it.
But now, let me tell you about my experience with the Strangest Secret. The first time I heard the Strangest Secret was some time in the late 2007. I had just become incredibly interested, if not obsessed with self-improvement and was devouring various self-development materials one by one. But it was not until March 2008 that I listened to the suggestion, which Earl Nightingale made in the Strangest Secret. That suggestion was that each of us took the so-called Thirty Day Challenge. The challenge was to remain positive all the time every day for 30 days. If at some point of the test we become negative, then we have to start again and then go on for another 30 days. The test is supposed to go on until we have 30 straight days of only positive thinking. So, I took this test in March 2008 and it was a great experience. As Earl Nightingale said, thinking only positively during one whole month absolutely changed my life. It became harder for negativity to enter my mind and I became dedicated to only the good things in my life.
Now, let us jump one year to March 2009, when I decided to once again make the Thirty Day Challenge, but this time on a much larger scale. This time I decided to listen to the Strangest Secret recording every single morning, but not for only one month, but every day in my life. Now, it has been one year and I still start every day with this great ritual. I did it yesterday. I did it today. I will do it tomorrow. Some might say that I am addicted to the Strangest Secret. And perhaps I am. But I can tell you that this is a positive addiction, if there can be such an expression.
So, am I suggesting that you try the Thirty Day Challenge? Yes, I am!
Have a great day!
