I would assume that most of you reading this blog are not Bulgarian. Yet, you must have noticed that the title of this blog is Bulgarian Mastermind. What is that supposed to mean? Well, the Bulgarian Mastermind is an union of Bulgarians, who have decided to dedicate their lives to the Awakening of the Nation. And today is exactly this kind of holiday.
Bulgaria spent the years from the 15th to the 19th century under the domination of the Ottoman Empire. 400 out of these 500 years were spent without any organized idea of National liberation. Therefore, the feelings of nationalism were no more than sleeping and needed to be awakened. Therefore, the awakening of Bulgarian nationalism was the main idea of the circle of Bulgarian Awakeners - the leaders of the so-called Bulgarian National Revival.
