Hello once again!
You know what, although almost all of my conversation here has been completely one-sided, I have kept going on in belief that we will have a dialogue one day. Or maybe I simply like to study great people so much that I don't care if anybody is reading this blog? I am sure that you are here, however, and that you will speak out soon! And then, one more thing, I am deciding today not to go to sleep without writing my blogs for the day as well as my diary. My goal is never to have to do again what I am doing now - namely block posting.
And now, on to our quote of the day, coming from the man on the left:
Every reader finds himself. The writer's work is merely a kind of optical instrument that makes it possible for the reader to discern what, without this book, he would perhaps never have seen in himself.
As you can guess from the quote, or perhaps from the sophistication of the look in his eyes, he is an author. More than that - he is a French author and his name is Marcel Proust. You can read his biography as usual here. And he had something very clever to say. It is interesting that people don't read to discover something about the external world - they read to discover something about themselves. Or maybe the two are the same? Maybe yes. The important thing is that each of us has a long journey to take and the shortcut to this journey, or rather say, the surest way to finish this journey is through reading. So go grab a Marcel Proust book?
