Hello friends!
I am always very happy to write in this blog, although I rarely find time to write here daily anymore. And why am I so happy? Well, this is my first blog, and it is the only one I have in English. While I have two blogs in Bulgarian ( http://bulgarianmastermind.blog.bg/ and http://bulgarianmastermind.wordpress.com/ ) and a Homepage also in Bulgarian ( http://bulgarianmastermind.com/ ), I have only this blog to communicate with my international friends.
So how are you doing?
I am fine, thank you. Today I would like to share with you something that I usually prefer not to talk about, but today I am going to break that rule. I usually prefer not to talk about negative things because I don't want to feed them extra power. However, I can not help, but notice the negativity in my peers in Bulgaria. Or shall we call it, educated pessimism? Don't get me wrong, I completely understand the feelings of my disgruntled peers. They are fed up with all the problems, all the corruption, all the lies, everything! And they have lost faith. And they prefer it this way, because this way no one can cheat them. I don't believe you, so you can't cheat them. These people don't vote in elections for a different reason from the reason that people in developed countries don't. People in developed countries don't vote because their countries have well set up systems and their vote really makes no difference - things will not get better or worse after elections because the country is following its course of development more or less independent of politics. In Bulgaria, however, it is different. In my country there are two political parties, whose electorate is very well organized and they have constant waves of supporters. These are the parties of the socialists (former communists) and the minority Turkish and Gypsy party. Most of my friends, who don't vote in elections would vote for a democratic party. But they don't. Why? Because they refuse to believe all politicians. They are all the same. Everybody is corrupt. No one is honest in this country. There is no hope! This is the rhetoric that people use. Therefore, the alternatives to the leftist-minority government in Bulgaria are weakened by the lack of motivation of the young educated professionals. The professional pessimists. Yes, no one can cheat you, my friends. But you have cheated yourselves. Because you have almost murdered faith. Almost, I say. Because I believe that there is still hope. And because I know that faith can not be murdered. It simply can't! No matter how hard you try. One day you will realize that pessimism doesn't serve you. Rather, it handicaps you. And slowly you will revive optimism. And start smiling. And start believing. And start creating. And start moving forward. But first you have to realize that this is all in your interest. Keeping up the optimism! Of course, you are welcome to join too, my international friends!
