Let me ask you a question. In which tense are you living your life? In the present, of course, you might answer angrily. Well, let's think about this a bit more.
There is no way that I would know what you are thinking about, but I can analyze my own thinking process. Whenever I am not consciously directing my thoughts to live in the present and materialize on its opportunities, I am either thinking about the past or dreaming about the future. It might be satisfaction about something that worked out or regret for something that didn't go as I wanted it. As for the future, my thoughts are filled with mental constructs of how I want things to be or worse, fears of how things might get worse.
Yes, my body is here in the present, but my spirit seems to be wandering aimlessly between the past and future. Pretty absurd, right? Having in mind that there is nothing I can do about the past and as for the future, I can only influence that by my actions in the present. Daydreaming feels pleasant but it is absolutely unproductive! True, visualization is great, but it works only when mixed with action.
I don't know about you, but here and now I promise myself to live each day in the present and to do what I want to do without regrets. Better now than never. Better failure than missing an opportunity!
