Hello friends!
How about the below quote?
A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.
The first time I heard it was in the Earl Nightingale audio "The Strangest Secret." I was very impressed by the comparison between the human soul and a ship - if you don't direct both of them, they will crash. If you lead them well, they can achieve great things.
When I heard this quotation I immediately wanted to know the author, but it took me until today until I discovered him by accident. He is our birthday man of the day and his name is Thomas Carlyle. He was a British writer of the 19th century. You can read a detailed biography of him here.
And now, back from the character of Carlyle to the quote of the day. Let me ask you, would you let a ship go without a rudder? No, I would assume, unless you would like it to crash. Now, would you yourself go into life without a goal? Do you sometimes proceed without a goal? And no excuses, please - success is a science, which accepts no excuses and pays no favorites. It is all up to us to achieve success and the first step to it is to have a goal in mind. So what is yours?
