Hello friends!
I am not aware of whether there are any Germans among you, or any people from Eastern Europe. If that is the case, however, you are surely aware of the importance of this date in history. On this date the fall of the famous Berlin Wall, which is depicted on the photo above started. The history surrounding the fall is quite complicated and lengthy, but very interesting, so I highly recommend that you read it here.
What is important, however, is that the Fall of the Berlin Wall started the Fall of Communism. It gave hope to people, who lived their lives dictated by fear, that there was hope and that there was freedom. It changed the life of millions living east of the so-called Iron Curtain. Moreover, the unification of Germany, which happened the following year, gave hope and still gives hope for unification of Korea and Cyprus, which are in a similar situation of division based on political differences. What is meant to be together is meant to be together, right?
At the end, I would like to greet all of you with a great song by The Scorpions, which perfectly captures the spirit of the age:
Have a great day!
