Hello dear friends!
Today we continue with our daily series of what happened today. I was going over the names of famous people who have been born or died, or the events that took place on this date on Wikipedia without finding anything inspiring. Actually, I am writing a similar series of daily occurrences on my other blog in Bulgarian, and it is about great Bulgarians and important events in Bulgarian history. Well, today for the first time I was able to find an important Bulgarian person, but nothing on the international scene. Therefore, I decided to share with you our Bulgarian hero of the day. His name is Stefan Karadzha, and you can read more about him here. As for important quotes, there is not much recorded that came from him, as he was a mere revolutionary, who died at the age of 28 struggling to free his country from Ottoman rule. His cause was noble and he is a hero for all Bulgarians. He will always be remembered.
Well, to finish it off with a famous quotation from a work by Hristo Botev, a great Bulgarian revolutionary-writer, regarding Hadzhi Dimitar, Stefan Karadzha's fellow:
"Those who die fighting for freedom, live forever!"
