Hello friends!
What's going on today? I know, today is the 8th anniversary of that terrible 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. But we have to move on. That's why we will not be dwelling on this tragedy here. Instead we will be looking at the birthday of the English author D.H. Lawrence. He was noted for his protest against the dehumanizing effects of modernization and industrialization and therefore his works are still relevant today. You can read more about him here.
And now, on to our favorite part, isn't it? Here is what our man of the day had to say about life and our knowledge:
All that we know is nothing, we are merely crammed wastepaper baskets, unless we are in touch with that which laughs at all our knowing.
You can tell by these words that Lawrence was a modern-day Socrates - all I know is that I know nothing at all. All our knowledge seems useless in the grander scheme of things. The more we know, the more we realize that we know nothing. That's a good thing to know though because it frees us of contempt and the desire to show off.
Have a great day!
